INTECH celebrated its 8th annual Day of Service by joining forces with First African Presbyterian Church located at 42nd & Girard. First African is a historic church in West Philadelphia that has served as a beacon of hope to residents in that community since 1957. It currently serves the community through its food pantry, daycare center, cyber charter school, and its partnership with the University of Pennsylvania Health Systems which hosts a community health clinic. Every Monday since 1998, UPHS in partnership with First African have provided healthcare services to more than 15,000 residents in the community, taking over every usable space in the church to bring services to the community.
As in previous years the resources and skills of our employees, along with the generosity of several of our subcontractors and suppliers, allowed us to support First Africa’s mission by renovating several areas of the lower church including the kitchen, food pantry, bathrooms, the fellowship hall, as well as exterior landscaping.
