INTECH continued its annual Day of Service in the community by joining forces with the People’s Emergency Center (PEC). The PEC provides emergency and transitional shelter services to women and children, serving more than 400 homeless women and children each year. In addition to its shelter services, PEC provides job training and educational services to the community.
The challenge of this year’s project was to deploy forces to multiple sites and ensure that materials and supplies were adequately staged at each site. As in previous years, the resources and skills of our employees, along with the generosity of several of INTECH’s subcontractors, allowed us to support PEC’s mission by renovating several sites. Work included exterior landscaping at Willow Park, construction of a new concrete patio at a future residence of a PEC client, and painting and floor repairs at several PEC housing sites. We also took on three much needed projects at Gloria’s Place, including installation of custom bookshelves in the library, shelving in the stroller room, and painting and FRP installation in the dining room. Gloria’s Place is a transitional housing facility named for Gloria Guard who led PEC for more than 26 years.
